Hi Everyone, Thanks for following along with the lettuce challenge.
Our exciting announcement today is that we’re planting at least 519 lettuce seedling for our upcoming challenge, plus a hundred extra for “just in case.” The special soil mix is mixed, the trays and lids are ready, and the Buttercrunch seeds, donated by Botanical Interests, are waiting to be sown. I got a lesson yesterday in planting lettuce seeds yesterday from our Horticultural Director at GEC, Lisa Beebe, and have been reading every resource I can about lettuce, but remember, I am learning along side you all with this, so….
Who wants to come help plant seeds? I will be at the GEC on Sunday from 2-4 pm, with all the supplies ready.
This is the fun stuff, and “it takes a community” – Hope you can join me in the community greenhouse, then stay and play in the snowy/icy Pinetum and Pomerance. Weather forecast from weather.gov says “Mostly sunny, with a high near 35. Wind chill values between 15 and 25. West wind 10 to 14 mph.”
Please RSVP if you can make it, email firstname.lastname@example.org
I’ll give you two guesses:
what’s the temperature in the greenhouse going to be tomorrow?
how many seeds are in our 1 oz. lettuce packets?
