We had some great finds last week, three deer beds were found under the Weeping Hemlock. From here, we think the deer have a great view of everything that’s happening in the Pinetum. We found where they were sleeping, plenty of tracks, and some scat. This was a really cool parent find – hooray for our winter explorers, both big and small!
These three dear deer that have been with us since Spring even made a graceful appearance. What a delight! Tomorrow for mushrooms, since it is school break, siblings are invited and we’ll extend nature play until noon. We’ll have a table set up in our cozy classroom, with supplies for making special valentines, classroom chores to do.
Bring your favorite winter book to share, and warm waterproof gear to play outside in the snow kitchen. Weather.gov for Cos Cob predicts: Wednesday Mostly sunny, with a high near 27. Wind chill values between 5 and 15. Northeast wind 7 to 10 mph, with gusts as high as 20 mph.
Kindly send an open house RSVP to youth.director @ gecgreenwich.org. To sign up for future sessions, please visit gecgreenwich.org/mushrooms
Don’t forget this Sunday, February 15th, is Third Sunday Nature Play, 2-4pm, all about the Lettuce Challenge. More details to come.
