Hi Sprouts & Seedlings!
Parent handbooks with required forms are posted as google docs, and can now be filled out via google forms.
We look forward to learning more about your Sprouts, so please complete them as soon as possible, and send us any questions. In the meantime, here are some gear recommendations.
Are You Geared Up for Nature Connection?
We aim to help you and your young explorers build up resources to connect with the natural world. We’ll gain practice equipping ourselves for outdoor activities, rain or shine. Take a look at our schedule and be sure you are prepared for comfortable and safe exploration and play in our green spaces.
Here are our recommendations for which clothes to wear, and what gear to bring for a maximum amount of fresh air. In case of extreme weather, we’ll bring nature stations into our bright classroom.
Summer School Break Enrichment
- close-toed shoes
- tall socks – we call them “fox socks”
- sun hat
- insect-repellent and sun-block applied in the morning
bottoms: Comfortable Lightly-colored leggings or light hiking pants that can be TUCKED-IN to socks. Shorts are discouraged.
tops: Lightly-colored, breathable fabrics in long sleeves for hiking on the trails. We want to discourage ticks and mosquito bites. T-shirts are okay for in the garden and Pinetum if the weather is very hot.
rainy days: please send rain boots and waterproof jackets, and be sure to have your extra clothes in your cubby. We will head out and explore in the rain.
mud: We are often spraying water and handling soil in the garden, as well as using art supplies. Please choose clothing that can handle a healthy dose of “summer mess.” Pack it up, for your cubby
- An extra change, complete set of clothing, including socks
- A towel
- A water bottle
- Any snack items to bring/share, please pack in a small bag or reusable container, and we’ll bring it along in our snack cooler. Please do not bring peanuts/tree nuts.
Please leave at home:
toys, sandals & jellies, short shorts, sweet treats.
- Arts and Crafts
- Dramatic Play props
- Building and Engineering opportunities
- Nature Journals
- Gardening gloves and tools for Garden Plantings and . . .
- many Happy Memories!
